Every day this week, in advance of opening our submission window for 2021\/22 we are profiling our 6 Academicians of 2020\/2021. Meet Hannah Walton-Hughes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"I am nineteen, and have lived in York for most of my life. I attended The Mount School for the entirety of my Secondary education. I have loved writing and reading since I was very young; my all-time favourite author is Agatha Christie, and she strongly inspires the crime fiction that I write. During my gap year, I have finished the first draft of my first novel, The Murder Inside Me<\/em>, experimented with the short story form, and have created self-written fairytale parodies set in the context of the pandemic, which I am delighted to say have been very well received. This September, I am starting the University of Nottingham, where I will study \u2018English with Creative Writing\u2019.<\/p>\n

I have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the Northern Short Story Academy over the last six months. The feedback that I have received on my writing has been invaluable, and I have loved working with such a wonderfully supportive group. I wish the next year\u2019s cohort the best of luck.<\/p>\n
