Meet Our Academicians: Kate Vine

In advance of opening our Academy submission window for 2022/23, we are profiling our 6 Academicians of 2021/2022.

Meet Kate Vine.

I’ve been writing all my life and, in 2018, I graduated with Distinction from the MA Creative Writing course at UEA. It was a wonderful time, reading, writing and collaborating with other writers. Since then, I’ve been honing my first novel and my short fiction has won the Lunate 500 competition, been shortlisted for the Bath Short Story Award, longlisted for the V.S. Pritchett Short Story Prize and the Mslexia Short Story Competition, and published by Dear Damsels and Retreat West. I’ve also set up my own business as a freelance writer and editor.

I moved to York after lockdown and missed my former writing community. The Academy helped me refocus on my writing after a time of great change, and brought me together with a wealth of talented writers and new perspectives. Our workshops were vibrant, interesting and incredibly supportive and I hope we continue to work together on our writing projects.

You can contact Kate on Twitter and her website.

You too can join our Academy. We’re opening our submission window on Tuesday 30th August. Read more here.
