The Uncanny in short fiction.Creative writing workshop with Lucie McKnight Hardy, part of the Writing the Uncanny workshop series. Part of Leeds Lit Fest 22.

This will be a hands-on in person workshop where we’ll look at how the short story is the perfect form to explore and exploit the uncanny in order to instil dread and unease in the reader. We’ll consider some of the techniques writers use to unsettle and perturb, and put these methods to effect in practical exercises. Come armed with a pen and paper.

Cost £12 + booking fee. Attend a Writing the Uncanny workshop and get a ticket to the panel event at 6pm for £3 ( otherwise £5). Book on this ticket link for panel event. Please show workshop ticket on the night.

Lucie McKnight Hardy’s stories have featured in various publications, including Best British Short Stories 2019, Black Static, The Lonely Crowd, and as a limited edition chapbook from Nightjar Press. Her debut novel, Water Shall Refuse Them, was published in 2019 by Dead Ink Books . Her short story collection, Dead Relatives was published in 2021.
