In the forest, stories grow: writing uncanny fiction with fairy tales. Creative writing workshop with Claire Dean. Part of Writing the Uncanny workshop series for Leeds Lit Fest 22.

Forests are full of old tales and can provide fertile ground for the uncanny to grow. Drawing on the wonder and fear in fairy tales from childhood, together with local folklore and landscapes, we’ll explore the possibilities working at the boundaries of the real and the imaginary can bring to short fiction. Through a series of writing exercises, discussions, and readings, you’ll leave with a trail of breadcrumbs you can follow in future work.

Cost £12 + booking fee. Attend a Writing the Uncanny workshop and get a ticket to the panel event at 6pm for £3 ( otherwise £5). Book on this ticket link for panel event. Please show workshop ticket on the night.
