The Northern Short Story Festival aims to programme a high quality and diverse line-up of individual presses, themed panels, and individual authors.
If you would like to apply to appear at a future festival, we would love to hear from you. We are always interested in hearing from individual authors & independent presses and you do not have to have a connection to the North of England to work with us.
We strongly advise looking at our “Past Festivals” page to get a feel for the kind of thing that appears in our programme, and to check that we haven’t already had the kind of event you’re proposing. We aim to programme a diverse and representative Festival, with an equal number of men and women, and a representative number of authors of colour. We are more likely to accept events / proposals that are specific (perhaps covering specific areas of technique, form or genre) than we are to accept broad, generalist events, so do bear that in mind when you get in touch.
We are particularly interested in hearing from: independent presses; authors & publishers of speculative fiction; local charities with social and/or inclusion aims; and individual short story writers with tried and tested workshops to offer. We also want to hear from individual authors who would be willing to appear on panels. Please let us know your areas of interest or expertise if this is you.
